“Under Construction”
After 10 years of City Hall obstruction and expensive requirements we were delighted to see the old hall demolished near the end of May 2011. We are looking forward to the construction of a new Scout and Lions hall built on this site. The new hall will be a real asset to our community and will be available for rentals. Thanks to the Lions for spear-heading the Bowness Ratepayers Society and the amazing amount of fund-raising through casinos, garage sales and donations. Also, thanks to all who continue to donate through the Bownesian, garage sales, bottle drives and other fund-raising opportunities. Despite a shortfall in funds, the hall is a go-ahead!
Upcoming Programs
Please note 169 Bowmont Scouts will still begin a full program of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers in the fall. Beavers and Cubs will likely meet in the Legion upper hall on Wednesdays. We are seeking a new home for the Scouts on another night. We welcome all ages of youth into the following sections:
Beavers Age 5 - 7
Cubs Age 8 - 10
Scouts Age 11 - 13
Venturers Age 14 - 17

Secretary – take minutes at monthly Group Committee meetings
Registrar – administer registration and police check forms
Public Relations – liaise with Bowness & Montgomery community associations
Bottle drive Coordinator – 3 Saturdays per year
Popcorn Campaign Coordinator – Several hours over 10 weeks in fall
Christmas Tree Sales Coordinator – Several hours in December
Quartermaster – Maintain group equipment
Free Training and mentoring for all positions available.

Serving the Bowness Montgomery area to help our youth develop a strong sense of community and have fun doing it.
The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.
